Today I got to chat with Madilynn Dale, author of fantasy.

Hi, Madilynn! Tell us about your books.
My latest book is the fourth book in the Fae Shifters series titled The Blood King. It continues to follow main character Liz as she races against time to save her mates while preparing to give birth. She is also tasked with stopping a villain who has been around since the creation of time.
Sounds like a lot to do on top of pregnancy! What’s the first book you ever remember reading?
A Dr. Seuss book called Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb.
What inspired you to start writing?
I have always had a creative imagination and enjoyed getting lost in stories. I thought after having an inspiring dream while pregnant I would give writing books a try. Since then I can’t stop and every day things inspire stories.
Who is your main inspiration?
My son is my main inspiration. I want him to have something created by me to read later in life.
Aside from writing, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to read, paint, hike, ride horses, spend time with family, and be outdoors.
Tell me about your writing space. Where do you usually write?
I mostly use my laptop to write because it is easy to move around. I can take it outdoors when I need fresh air or sit on the couch with my son.
Are you a morning or night person? What time of day do you prefer to sit and write?
I’m usually a morning person but since I started writing, I find my creativity hits when everyone else is asleep or gone.
Do you plan out your stories or are you a pantser (making it up as you go along)?
When I first started writing I was a panster but now I’m more of a planner. I may not stay on top of every plan well but I do plan out my stories now.
What’s your favourite book genre? Do you write in that genre?
Fantasy/Romance/Paranormal genres are my favorite and I do write in them.
Tell me your top three favourite books of all time.
Picking just three is difficult but I love the Harry Potter series, the Throne of Glass series, and the Need series by Carrie Jones. I have read each of these numerous times and I keep going back again and again.
It’s great when you can find a book or series that you love enough you can go back to it over and over. Have you ever read a book that changed your life?
Yes, I recently read a book titled When Breath Becomes Air and it made me start to pay attention to what I value most in life more. It was an emotional memoir.
Who is your favourite book character who you’ve created?
Liz is by far my favorite. She is the main character in my Fae Shifters series. She is strong, powerful, a capable leader, and she is filled with love.
What’s your latest book about?
My WIP focuses on a strong female named Ember. She has gone her entire life thinking she was a latent wolf only to discover that she’s not. Her mother kept a secret and turns out she is the daughter of Lucifer and a Hellhound to boot. She has power that no one in her pack has seen before and demons are after her.
OK, something unrelated to writing! If you could go on a date with any celebrity, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I would go on a date with Tom Hiddleston. I love his portrayal of Loki as well as the other characters he has played. He seems like a fun individual to get to know.
Where can we find out more about you?
