An Interview with Safali Sisodia, Non-Fiction Author

Today I got the chance to talk with Safali Sisodia, an Indian author who writes about spirituality.

Safali Sisodia, author of “The Choice is Yours”

Hi, Safali! Tell us about your new book release.

The book The Choice is Yours says that life will always put you in different situations to deal with and gives you the choice to accept them positively and fight OR keep ignoring them and make excuses for your failures and blaming others, including God.

But when you understand your origin, your true self, then you will realize that the things you want in your life are already yours. You just have to discover your own self and connect with the Supreme Soul.

The Choice is Yours: Understand Yourself Before Dealing With Any Situation of Life! by Safali Sisodia

Sounds great! What’s the first book you ever remember reading?

Bhagavad Gita. It’s a 700-verse Hindu scripture.

What inspired you to start writing?

The idea for writing this book came during the lockdown when I spent more time reading books like Bhagavad Gita , Autobiography of the Yogi, and many more. These books inspired me to write about my own spiritual journey and with a noble desire to be able to influence others to benefit from this.

Through this book, I want to spread happiness all over the world. I want to spread awareness that it is always your choices which ultimately convert into your reality. In recent reviews, I saw that people can easily relate to my book.

Who is your main inspiration?

It came from within. But yes there are so many people who helped me during my journey like my husband, my friends and family, and my publisher.

Aside from writing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

I love music, reading, cooking, and gardening.

Tell me about your writing space. Where do you usually write?

I generally read sitting in my garden and write in the study room.

Are you a morning or night person? What time of day do you prefer to sit and write?

I am morning person. I am mother of a handsome eight-year-old boy so I prefer writing when he goes to school.

What’s your favourite book genre?

Self help, motivation, and spiritual.

Tell me your top three favourite books of all time.

Bhagavad Gita , The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, and A Monk’s Guide to Happiness by Gelong Thubten.

Have you ever read a book that changed your life?

Bhagavad Gita . I first read it when I was a kid and I didn’t understand anything from it. As soon as I could understand the challenges I faced, I decided to read the book for all the problems I was going through. To my amazement, I could find all my answers from this book which made me a great fan of it. I didn’t read this as a religious book but more like a guide for me to steer my challenges with God at the helm.

How great you could get a second meaning out of a religious scripture! And that you could experience it differently as you got older. OK, something unrelated to writing! If you could go on a date with any celebrity, living or dead, who would it be and why?

Priyanka Chopra because I love her fearless attitude. She is a role model for all Indian girls and she represents a global platform.

Thank you for answering these questions! Where can we find out more about you?
